BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® and XEOMIN®
Lunch-time Treatment for Wrinkles in Motion
Smiling, squinting and frowning for example cause wrinkles that only appear when the muscles that cause them are in use. These lines and wrinkles appear between the eye brows and around the eyes (crow’s feet) as we age – with repeated frowning or smiling and as skin loses its elasticity – over time. BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® are known as neuromodulators (wrinkle-relaxing solutions) as opposed to dermal fillers—they do not “fill in” facial areas to restore lost volume. Rather, BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® act as intramuscular blocking agents. They block the chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract and relax them. These popular injectable solutions are some of the many effective anti-aging treatments available today, and they are widely used by young people as well as our more mature patients – with great results – to help them age more beautifully.

How Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected in very small doses into the muscles that cause the severe frown lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a highly purified muscle relaxant that, after injection, causes wrinkles to “smooth away.” The untreated areas are not affected at all. A tiny micro-needle is used and the solution is injected precisely into the locations selected for treatment. BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatments have provided outstanding results to hundreds of thousands of people – men and women for several decades.
Dysport®
Dysport treats moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by reducing specific muscle activity. Wrinkles are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions, which means they can even develop in younger adults. One injection into each of 5 points between and above the eyebrows temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause frown lines, leaving the rest of your face to move naturally. In other words, no frozen look, just natural-looking results. You can control your look instead of your look controlling you.
In just one 10- to 20-minute treatment, Dysport may help improve the look of your frown lines between the eyebrows for up to 4 months.† The majority of patients see improvement in just 2–3 days after treatment.4-6** Results of repeat treatments may be comparable to your first use. Another plus? There is minimal downtime after your treatment, which means you can get back to your day faster.
The treatments are truly some of the many effective anti-aging treatments available today.
XEOMIN®
XEOMIN® is another advanced neuromodulator solution designed to smooth wrinkles and fine lines caused by repetitive facial movements. Frown lines, glabellar lines, crow’s feet, and forehead creases can be temporarily reduced with this injectable treatment. XEOMIN® contains the purified form of botulinum toxin type A, but does not contain any of the complexing proteins found in similar treatments. This simplified formulation can make XEOMIN® a suitable option for many individuals who may be sensitive to additives in other injectables.
Like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, XEOMIN® works by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles, reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles for a smoother, more youthful look. Treatments are typically quick and require little to no downtime. Results often last about three to four months; however, the precise timeframe can vary among individuals.
While XEOMIN®, BOTOX® Cosmetic, and Dysport® have many similarities, there are some distinctions between these injectable treatments that can make one more ideal than the other, depending on each patient’s unique needs. Once you have been evaluated during the initial consultation, we can help you determine which of these popular injectables may be best for your ultimate goals.
