Education and Training

Dr Kerekes is a native of West Virginia and completed medical school at West Virginia University. In medical school, she discovered her love for plastic surgery and from there, she matched into a coveted 6-year integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Kentucky. During residency she won multiple teaching awards and was also involved in research. Upon graduating from the University of Kentucky, she then went on to serve the Kentucky community by joining Hardin Memorial Hospital. Here, she started the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program and served as Medical Director for five years. She was an integral member of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer team and won the Highest Overall Patient Experience Award for the organization in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, she decided to make the move to private practice and has been with Carolina Plastic Surgery since that time where she has established a vital role with the Spartanburg Regional Comprehensive Breast Cancer team and founded Reconstruct the Runway, an annual event to bring awareness to and celebrate breast cancer reconstruction patients.

Board Certification

Dr. Kerekes is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which means she has met rigorous requirements to become board certified. She also maintains her certification by voluntarily participating in activities which assess her knowledge, and ensure that she stays up with the latest techniques and innovations in the specialty.

Philosophy

Dr. Kerekes is passionate about plastic surgery and her role in educating and empowering patients. As a female plastic surgeon, Dr. Kerekes offers the combination of surgical skill and a compassionate, empathetic female perspective. She has a very patient-centered approach and believes in helping people throughout their entire surgical transformation. Regardless of why that journey starts- a cancer diagnosis, aesthetic concern, massive weight loss, restoration after childbirth– she encourages patients to trust the process, and ensures that she is there, every step of the way, to help them complete their journey.
